Advanced 911 available on the iTunes App Store

Ten43 Technologies, a public safety software company, is pleased to announce that their flagship mobile product Advanced 911 is currently available on the iPhone App Store. Advanced 911, a free easy-to-use app for contacting your local 9-1-1 via text when you're in need of aid. Traditionally 9-1-1 centers only supported voice calls. With this app, Advanced 911, you can now send text messages and photos to participating 9-1-1 centers. If a local 9-1-1 center isn't available, we'll help you send a text message with your location to a friend so they can call 9-1-1 for you.

Can't I send texts to 911 today?

Most every 911 center in the USA today doesn't support SMS/text messaging. The only way to contact them is through a phone, whether land-line, mobile or VoIP (Voice over IP).

Why is texting important?
